Adopted February, 2012) Member Rights and ObligationsOur commitment to our members stems from our Mission Statement: "The Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre provides non-denominational educational opportunities for personal wellness and growth in a caring, dynamic and community-focused way that celebrates and values all members of the community." Furthermore, The Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre is compliant with ACCESS Ontario which requires businesses and organizations in Ontario to identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility. We strive to ensure accessible customer service standards to people with disabilities.
Feedback and Complaints Policy:We care about what we do and the services that we provide. We welcome feedback on ways to improve our programs and services. Members of The Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre and/or the general public are welcome to direct their comments and concerns to the Executive Director. If participants and/or instructors have immediate concerns, they need to inform the FNC staff in a polite and calm manner. Whenever possible and preferably in writing, members may either direct their comments or concerns in the form of a letter, an email, or as a contact request linked from our website. A response will be issued in a timely fashion from the Executive Director. If the response is not to the satisfaction of the complainant, he/she may escalate their issue by directing their original complaint and the resulting FNC response to the Chair of the Board of The Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre for consideration by the Board at its next meeting. Further, we invite feedback in the form of requesting responses to regular surveys and via a link on our website. Frequently, these comments and suggestions give us ideas to improve all aspects of our organization. Our programs and how we carry out our activities are a reflection of the survey results and comments that we receive.
Member ObligationsParticipants and instructors alike are asked to observe the following:
Failing to comply with these obligations may result in a member being asked to leave the Centre and only be allowed to return at the discretion of the Executive Director. There will be no reimbursement for classes missed. For clarification of any of the above expectations, please contact the Executive Director. Adopted by The Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre Board, February 22, 2012.Membership Requests for changes:If you need to request a change (cancellations or transfers) please email us. We will do our best to handle your request as soon as possible. Thank you. Make Up Classes:We understand that you might miss a class or two. If you are registered for adult fitness programs that are longer than six weeks in duration, you can make up a maximum of two missed fitness classes per session, per person. Make up classes are not transferable. Due to capacity issues, you may not make up a fitness class in a yoga class. For yoga programs, you may make up missed classes in other yoga classes (maximum two per session, per person) with prior permission from the instructor. Contact the office to request permission. For all other fitness make up classes. please indicate that you are taking a make up class to the instructor at the beginning of the class you are attending. If you know you will miss more than two classes per session a better alternative may be to purchase our Fitpass (four classes per session, some restrictions apply). Payments, Class Changes and RefundsAll payments for program fees or membership must be made by CASH or CHEQUE only. Cheques are made payable to the Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre. Please note that NSF cheques will be subject to a $15.00 service charge. If FNC cancels a program, either before or after the start of the program, participants will receive a refund, less classes attended. If an individual requests a refund more than seven days prior to the commencement of the program, a refund less a $15.00 cancellation fee will be issued. If an individual wants to cancel out of a program less than seven days prior to the start of the program, we will attempt to offer a credit note, less a $15.00 cancellation fee .No refunds can be made once a program has started unless cancellation is due to a medical problem supported by a doctors letter In this case a cancellation fee will be charged and a credit note issued. If an individual wants to transfer from one program into another, they will pay a $10.00 service charge.
Late RegistrationIn fitness programs, depending on the program and where space is available, late registration is acceptable within one or two weeks of class commencement. For all other programs a decision is made seven days prior to the commencement of the workshop or course whether sufficient numbers have enrolled in the class. The class will be cancelled at this time if numbers do not warrant running the class. So, please don't wait until the last minute to register! Late registrations will be accepted up to class time where a decision to run the class has already been made and space is available.WEATHER RELATED NOTICE: In the event that adverse weather conditions prevent programs from running normally, a notice will be placed on this website and on the front doors of the building by 8:00 a.m. If programs are cancelled due to weather related issues, you are welcome to enjoy a make up class in the same Winter Session, space permitting. FNC is not responsible for weather closures. |
